Subscribe to our NewsletterA decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO) is an organisation represented by rules encoded as a computer program that is transparent, controlled by the organisation members and not influenced by a central government, in other words they are member-owned communities without centralised leadership. CancelDAO will be the vehicle by which a constellation of services, products, and thinkers can organise to restart free civil society, restore norms around free speech, and work towards pluralism.
The DAO itself will have an endowment consisting of prime crypto assets as well as various stablecoins. This endowment will grow via investments in various yield generating low risk crypto ventures, as well as strategic investment into projects that will help grow the un-cancellable censorship resistant economy of the future. The DAO endowment will also grow through the issuance and sale of Cancel Coins along an algorithmically predetermined schedule of emissions. New Cancel Coins will be minted and distributed to relevant stakeholders. An additional revenue stream for the DAO will be derived from partnerships with various cancelled individuals and organisations who will give permission for the DAO to issue NFT’s in their likeness and auction them off. These NFT’s will provide special privileges to the owners that will grant them greater access to the CNCLD community. The future priorities of the DAO will be democratically decided upon by Cancel Coin holders in a fully transparent and decentralised manner. It is envisioned that CNCLDAO will serve as a focal point for a wide range of dissident thinkers, builders, and content creators, coming together to support a pluralistic society, and then dispersing into creating the infrastructure for a censorship resistant and inclusive economy.

CancelDAO is a mission-focused organization and subscribes to Mission Protocol. Our team and community are united in believing in open discourse and seeking to reverse the tide of cancel culture. It is in pursuit of this goal that we acknowledge, fortify, work with, and even honor individuals who have been subjected to calls for cancellation. However, we do not endorse all the actions, views, and statements of the individuals commemorated in our NFTs or who are recipients of our awards, including those that purportedly justify their cancellation. In fact, as an organization, we are agnostic about specific topics of controversy across various societies and are instead focused on maintaining an open society and pushing back against disproportionate and heavy-handed punishment for discourse.
While united on our core mission and aligned around strategies, our team and community (like our honorees) have diverse views and disagreements on politics, philosophy, religion, culture, economics, and all manner of other issues of societal contention and debate. While there are issues of personal safety, privacy, criminality, violence, etc. that may be necessary or prudent to act upon, it does a disservice to our mission and our community to align with a particular side in the countless social and political issues beyond our core concern of an open society.
We are a counterweight to censorship and aim to foster and build towards a free, peaceful, and open society, where contentious issues can be discussed productively and the best solutions can be sought. We exist solely to align incentives towards honesty, freedom, openness and dialogue and away from force, intimidation, and violence. While everyone is entitled to their personal views, CancelDAO does not endorse any specific idea or position in contentious social debates.
